The System Design Engineer/Proposal Manager will lead a system integration team. The candidate will manage a staff of professionals who are instrumental in the selection, design, engineering, costing and proposal creation of multiple projects using both crystalline solutions and Solar Integrated’s proprietary BIPV thin film technology. The candidate will be responsible for assisting in the development of projects initiated by the sales team. The activities include pre-qualification and budgetary assessments to determine viability of each project. The candidate will be responsible for the selection of the appropriate technology and bid strategy for each project to maximize company success rate and profitability. The person will manage the bid and proposal pipeline and be available to answer technical questions after submitted.

Responsibilities
• Managing the execution of design work
• Selecting the appropriate PV technology and mounting system
• Creating layouts and detailed designs of PV systems with AutoCAD
• Working with Structural and Electrical Engineering staff on executing code-compliant designs
• Generating system specifications and preparing bid documents
• Generating permit packages
• Building detailed Bills of Materials
• Generating project Gantt charts
• Analyzing construction methodologies and cost structures
• Performing cost analysis projections and reports
• Working with the project sales personnel on presentations and technical matters

Our ideal candidate will possess:
• A bachelors or masters in engineering (electrical, mechanical or civil)
• 4-8 years in the construction industry in an engineering role preferably with an energy focus or from an   Mechanical, Electrical, Structural or HVAC engineering firm
• 2-5 years in the PV industry
• Experience with project management of large commercial projects
• High proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Project and Excel
• Ability to generate construction plan-sets and specifications
• Very good communication skills
• Hands-on construction experience is a plus
• Product design experience is a plus
