Solar Integrated Secures First European Contracts Awarded
Six Projects within Three Months of IEC Certification
Los Angeles, California, September 19,
2005 – Solar
Integrated Technologies, Inc. (AIM: SIT.LN), a leading provider of building
integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) roofing systems, today announced that it
has received orders from six German customers for projects aggregating
236 kilowatts of commercial solar roofing systems.
“I am pleased to report that we now have early and measured success
in our efforts to penetrate the important German market within only three
months of securing our International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)
certification for our roofing products,” commented Jon W. Slangerup,
Chief Executive Officer of Solar Integrated. “Our key distribution
channels into this important market are starting to gain solid traction – four
of these projects were sold through our Cooperation Agreement with our
strategic partner, Sarnafil International AG, and the remaining two projects
were sold through our German partner, Dachland GmbH.”
“Our European platform is an important element of our continued
global growth strategy, as we look to expand our market reach and penetration,” said
Frederik W. Mowinckel, Chief Operating Officer – Europe. “With
both IEC and CE certifications, and with productive distribution channels,
we look forward to securing additional orders in Europe.”
In April 2005, the Company announced that it had signed a formal cooperation
agreement with Swiss-based Sarnafil International AG, a division of Sarna
Polymer Holdings Inc. Under the terms of the agreement, Sarnafil’s
sales force markets and sells Solar Integrated’s branded BIPV roofing
systems to customers in Germany, the most highly developed European photovoltaic
market. Sarnafil manufactures high calibre polymer-based industrial membranes
and is one of the Company’s principal component suppliers. Solar
Integrated’s core product consists of Sarnafil’s flexible single-ply
roofing membrane fused with flexible thin-film amorphous silicon photovoltaic
cells. Sarnafil has a strong, long-standing reputation in the roofing industry
and operates a well established sales and marketing infrastructure across
the United States and Europe.
The IEC is a global organisation that prepares and publishes international
standards for electrical, electronic and related technologies. Solar Integrated’s
BIPV roofing systems passed the IEC electrical tests performed by the Arizona
State University Photovoltaic Testing Laboratory in Mesa, Arizona, as well
as Safety Class II tests performed by Germany’s leading third-party
inspection organisation, Technischer Überwachungs-Verein (TÜV)
Rheinland in Köln.
The Company has now successfully secured CE and IEC certifications for
product sales into Europe, as well as UL listings for all products being
sold into the United States.
