SOLAR INTEGRATED WINS $5 MILLION CONTRACT FROM U.S. GSA Company's Largest Contract Awarded to Date London, UK, and Los Angeles, California, September 29, 2006 – Solar Integrated Technologies, Inc. (AIM:SIT.LN), a leading provider of building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) roofing systems, announced today that it has won a $5 million contract from the United States General Services Administration (GSA) for the installation of a turn-key BIPV roofing system for the NARA Murphy Federal Records Center in Waltham, Massachusetts. The contract is expected to be completed in 2006. "This is one of our most exciting contract wins to date," stated R. Randall MacEwen, Solar Integrated's Interim Chief Executive Officer. "Not only is this project our largest value contract to date, but GSA squarely fits our target customer profile. They have requirements and budgeted capital for high-quality, energy-efficient roofs for a portfolio of low-slope buildings. They also have an interest in solar roofing technologies as a way to reduce their peak energy costs and hedge their long-term exposure to expected increases in peak grid electricity costs." "We were attracted to Solar Integrated's innovative approach of combining a solar power generating capability as part of the building's roofing system," commented Roman J. Piaskoski, Regional Energy Coordinator of GSA. "With Solar Integrated's product approach, we are able to lock in pollution-free power at a guaranteed low price for 20 years while also meeting our requirements for a high quality, energy-efficient roof." "This energy-efficient roofing system should help us to meet our goals for energy management, asset management and customer satisfaction," stated Glenn C. Rotondo, Assistant Regional Administrator for GSA's Public Buildings Service in New England. The specifications for the 143,000 square foot solar roofing system require flexible thin-film photovoltaic panels integrated with a single-ply reflective roofing membrane that qualifies as a "Cool Roof" under the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's EnergyStar program. The contract also includes a three-year operations and maintenance (O&M) service agreement and basic service contract for Solar Integrated's proprietary Renewable Energy Management (REM) software system. Extended service contracts for O&M and the REM system could be the subject of additional future contracts.
