Hummer Dealership Selects Solar Integrated for Its First Solar Roof
Solar Integrated’s First Solar Project in New Jersey

London, UK, June 6, 2006 – Solar Integrated Technologies, Inc. (AIM: SIT.LN), a leading provider of building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) roofing systems, announced today that it has been contracted by Hummer of Mahwah, LLC to provide a BIPV roofing solution for a dealership located in Mahwah, New Jersey, USA. This is the first Hummer dealership to install a BIPV roofing solution, and the first project for Solar Integrated in the important New Jersey market.

"We were attracted to the concept of combining a solar roof with our regular roofing needs," commented Larry Blum of Hummer of Mahwah. “We were looking to build an energy-efficient roof and a dealership that was friendly to the environment. We have essentially leveraged our existing roofing budget to transform our roof into a return on investment. It was great timing for us to put this project together because of the State of New Jersey rebates and the Federal Tax credits that we were able to use. We wanted to be the first dealer in the area to show how this can work and hope that many others follow our example."

Because many large non-residential rooftops cannot support the weight of heavy crystalline solar panels, Solar Integrated developed a lightweight alternative for low-slope roofs. Solar Integrated’s BIPV roofing systems are installed on existing roofs without costly structural modifications to handle the load and without numerous rooftop penetrations that could cause water leaks.  Unlike most conventional crystalline PV systems, the Solar Integrated BIPV roofing system does not require a complex mounting bracket structure or support frames and easily rolls flat onto the building’s roof surface to create a smooth, seamless appearance.  As a result, the product is easier to install than, and aesthetically superior to, conventional crystalline PV systems.

“Hummer selected Solar Integrated in a competitive market because we were able to address both their roofing and solar power requirements,” commented Jon W. Slangerup, Chief Executive Officer of Solar Integrated.  “This is an important competitive advantage we have over traditional after-market solar companies.  This project marks our first project in New Jersey, which is an exciting PV market in the United States due to its progressive incentive program.”

New Jersey has been a very active market for PV due to its rebate incentives. Systems up to 1 MW in capacity are eligible, and incentives are paid for the first 700 kW of capacity. In addition, the state has other incentive programs including tax exemptions.
