Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP)

This California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) solar incentive program encourages commercial electricity customers to install grid-tied renewable energy systems and clean distributed-generation (DG) systems.

On December 15, 2005, CPUC approved the first phase of the California Solar Initiative (CSI) -- increasing the 2006 budget for solar PV projects under the SGIP program by $300 million. The 2006 money will go toward the current waitlist accumulated since mid-2005 at $3/Watt, as well as for new applicants in 2006 at $2.80/Watt.
