Our Philosophy
Our approach is based on meeting requirements for sustainable building design, such as high lifetime quality, usability, being economic and ecologic as well as taking cultural aspects into consideration. We achieve this objective by developing solar systems that are lightweight, durable and powerful as well as being easy to install and building integrated.
Lightweight - Ecologic

Lightweight solar energy systems can be integrated into large roofs with limited additional load-bearing capacities increasing the area and number of buildings available to clean energy generation. They are made possible by the combination of traditional roofing materials with flexible PV-modules. The weight is reduced by the material – particular by the lack of heavy glass and metal frames and by the roof parallel application
Durable - High lifetime quality

Durable materials guarantee long-term availability and low maintenance. PV-modules normally come with a performance guarantee of 20 – 25 years. This implies that all material related to the roof construction should have a similar minimum lifetime. Solar Integrated draws on the vast experience of UNI-SOLAR®’s roofing material partners and their ability to produce long lasting, heavy-duty materials; while the thin-film PV-technology from UNI-SOLAR has been installed since more than 10 years and has been tested under severe conditions ranging from space, ocean to dessert applications.
Powerful - Economic

High energy yields are possible due to the triple-junction technology of the UNI-SOLAR’s solar cells. Triple-junction means the thin-film layer is coated onto a base substrate in three specific semiconductor layers. Every layer collects the light in a specific light range – i.e. blue, green and red. As blue light is dominant in the morning and afternoon and when cloudy or overcast, these PV-cells collect light over a longer time period of the day. The triple-junction technology is less sensitive to orientation and tilt angle allowing nearly horizontal installation.
Because the amorphous silicon cells have a very low temperature coefficient, they are less affected by rising module temperatures, do not need ventilation or cooling making them ideally suited for building integration.
Easy to install - usability

Easy to install means no specific tools are required for installation. Solar Integrated offers PV-solutions that are integrated into building materials and are applied similar as the roof or with the same techniques. The focus lies on non-penetrating solutions, which leave the watertight function intact and maintain the original roofing warranty.
Cultural aspects = building integration
Considering cultural aspects when planning a solar system into the design of a building usually means not to place the PV-system in the focus of the viewer, but concentrating on the structural elements of the building. By integrating the solar system into the building it becomes a part of and melds into the appearance of the building.
