Turning large bitumous roofs into clean energy generating assets with high quality roofing material and UNI-SOLAR® PV-laminates

Solutions for Modified Bitumen Roofs

Though modified bitumen is usually considered a cheap and less durable roofing solution, high quality products exist allowing the integration of photovoltaic elements for long-term clean energy generation. For turnkey projects Solar Integrated draws on two possible solutions:

  • Completely roof integrated systems with solutions from UNI-SOLAR® channel partners where UNI-SOLAR® PV-laminates are directly attached to the final bitumen layer right after  installation. This solution is suitable for new buildings, re-roofing and newly refurbished roofs.
  • The PowerTilt system, whereby the UNI-SOLAR® PV-laminate is attached to an aluminum sandwich board installed on a light substructure. The substructure is adhered to the roof without roof penetration maintaining its watertight function and guarantee. The advantages of this system are a higher energy yield due to the optimized tilt angle and its independence of roof tilt angle – allowing installation on very flat roofs and a potentially higher packing density depending on the specifics of the individual roof. This solution is a perfect retrofit solution for existing roofs (preferably no more than three years old).
